Greetings to all members of ACM.

At the outset, let me once again congratulate all the members who have conducted continuing medical education (CME) programs and contributed articles for our journal.

JACM has gone online and our publishers, Medknow and Wolters-Kluwer have given us an international look. The cover is multi-colored, the issue is larger with better images and printing is clear and easy to read. You can submit your articles online at http://www.journalonline.com/jacm/. First register as an author and then upload your article. Your article will pass through several phases of review and these steps can be followed by logging on at intervals. It is hoped that the journal will be indexed soon.

ACM is going forward with CMEs and now with workshops too.

The second CME of 2012 was held at Jubilee Mission Medical College, Trichur, Kerala on July 13, 2012. The theme was "Emerging Infectious diseases - A clinical challenge". The topics included Clinician's perspectives in Emerging infections By Dr K.B. Mohan, Prof of Medicine, JMMC&RI, Thrissur, Hospital-acquired emerging infections by Dr Joy Sarojini Michael, Prof of Microbiology, CMC, Vellore, Prevention of Hospital-acquired Infections and Antibiotic resistance by Dr. Kavita Raja, Prof of Microbiology, SCTIMST, Trivandrum, and Emerging Pediatric infections by Dr. Lulu Mathews, Prof and Head of Pediatrics (Retd), Govt. Medical College Calicut

A post-graduate (PG) Training workshop was successfully conducted at Medical College, Calicut from October 10 to 12, 2012. Faculty for the Workshop included senior professors from medical colleges within and outside Kerala. The workshop helped the PG students understand the way a PG exam is conducted with all the exercises to be done within the stipulated time period. They were also able to see the wide variety of rare organisms including fungi and parasites isolated at Medical College, Calicut. It is hoped that at least one workshop will be conducted every year and different centers will come forward to host it.

The first CME in 2013 was held on March 9, 2013 at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and the theme was "Current challenges in Clinical Microbiology".

The topics included "MDR Superbugs in Hospital settings" by Dr. George Varghese, MIOT Hospitals, Chennai, "Infections in Immunocompromized Patients" by Dr. Sanjay Bhattacharya, Tata Memorial Hospital, Kolkata, "PUO: Challenging the unknown" by Dr. Subramonian, "Emergencies in Clinical Microbiology" by Dr. KN Prasad, SGPGI, Lucknow, "Parasitological infections - Indian Scenario" by Dr. Rakesh Sehgal, PGIMER, Chandigarh and "Clinical Microbiology - Statistician's Perspective" by Dr. Asha Kamath, KMC, Manipal.

I once again appeal to all members to participate in all the activities of ACM and help the organization to move forward.
